Late May, 2023, we received a sad but heart warming message from Laura on our FB Page.Ā
Laura's daughter, Matilda, 9 years old, along with 10 of her friends from Edenfield Primary School were running theĀ Pretty Muddy Kids 5kmĀ Obstacle Course & Race, for Cancer Research UK in Manchester, after sadly losing her Grandfather, Reverand Les of Edenfield Parish Church, and lifelong Edenfield and Rossendale villager, earlier in the year to Leukeamia.Ā
Matilda was looking for a local business to sponsor the team, by purchasing the teams t-shirts with their team name, 'Team Rev Les' on ready for race day. Without question, we said yes, not only because we love working with local charities and money raising events, but I also felt we had to sponsor the Matilda and her friends raising money for Cancer Research UK as I had my own recent battle with Cancer.
Just days before Christmas 2021, I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer, having just turned 34 the week before. Because of the work that Cancer Research UK and others have done over the years, I was lucky enough to beat Cancer over the next 18 months, so I personally felt some obligation to support Matilda and her friends, in memory of her Grandfather and for the work Cancer Research UK does.Ā
With monetary donations from Scentish and from myself personally, along with all their friends and family, Matilda and her friends managed to raise a huge Ā£1,866.Ā 
Congratulations Matilda and Team Rev Les, you guys did amazing, us here at Scentish and your family and friends are very proud of you all.Ā
